About
For over 30 years, the Neves family has been producing coffee in the state of Bahia, Brazil. Wanting to showcase Brazilian specialty coffee, they formed Cafe Richesse in 1993 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Their company has grown from an optimistic backyard enterprise to an industry leader serving in the northern Front Range.
Our Relationship
At the heart of the coffee industry lies a relationship between coffee tree and consumer that is often forgotten. Most of the time, price is the only way communication occurs between farmer and consumer. At Cafe Richesse, they bridge that gap because they are the farmers. Any feedback from one of our customers can be instantaneously relayed to the people who can make a difference on the farms or in the mills.
Farm History
Low impact farming has always been a priority at Cafe Richesse. Their coffee is grown using drip-irrigation technology developed at Colorado State University, with water from rivers that run through our farms. Large areas of timber have been left untouched to protect wildlife and preserve the microclimate of the region. Only a small portion of what they grow comes to Fort Collins, where it is painstakingly roasted and analyzed to create the finest gourmet blends.
Socially Conscious Coffee
They are also a socially responsible company. On land donated by our farm, a full-service school has been operating since 2005. The school was founded by Socially Conscious Coffee, a non-profit organization we actively support. Socially Conscious Coffee focuses on coffee farm laborers and harvesters, directly providing education, health care, nutrition, and other programs and services to coffee harvesters and their families.
